Gabriel Revel was a French painter, born in a family of artists. Revel was accepted in the Académie Royale on 31 January 1682.
Revel is assumed to have worked with Charles Le Brun in Versailles.
He settled permanently in Dijon 1692, after Le Brun's death.
His style can be described as a classicizing academic style which was very appreciated by the local elites.
