A large "Gu" beaker vase covered with a typical double black and gloden thread crackle grey glaze, the body heavy and sturdily potted, the base left unglazed with a probably added later brown wash, early or middle Qianlong period, 18th century.
The inside is to be noted because it shows a natural firing defect and a finer brownish crackled glaze which is typical of the 18th century Guan or Ge type glaze very good quality wares. The inside glaze is also much duller than the outside glaze which is bright and shiny as glass : this is also specific of the ancient coal kilns in use in China during the mid-Qing dynasty.
