A rare Namban cabinet in lacquer and mother-of-pearl inlay, chiseled and gilded copper fittings.
It opens with two leaves revealing ten drawers lacquered red inside and decorated with flowers and foliage on the front. The doors, the top and the sides are bordered with a black and silver checkerboard and a frieze of flowers and foliage framed by a double thread of mother-of-pearl. They present cartouches on a gold background offering a Japanese decorating gold on a black background consisting of pagodas, animals, trees, foliage and flowers in lake landscapes.
The back and inside of the doors feature gold foliage on a black background.
