A Roof Tile of Han XIangzi

A roof tile representing the Taoist Immortal Han Xiangzi, patron saint of musicians. Terracotta and three-color glaze known as "sancaï". Han Xiangzi was the disciple of another Immortal, Lu Dongbin. He attracted animals and birds and charmed wild animals with his flute. He was nicknamed "the pure" because he threw down the money and everything that was offered to him and lived in communion with Nature. He is shown as a well-dressed young man holding a flute. China, 17th century. Custom made Chinese hardwood stand of the 19th century. Height with its wooden base 40 cm.
