Henri Auguste César SERRUR, called Calixte SERRUR, born in Lambresat in 1794, died in Paris in 1865.
Student of JB REGNAULT at the Beaux Arts in Paris in 1837, he exhibited at the Salon between 1819 and 1850. He obtained a 3rd class medal in 1836, and a 2nd class medal in 1837. Painter of history and portraits.
On the back, dry ink stamp: "Vallé.... pupil and successor of Belot, 3 rue de l'arbre sec Paris" on the canvas, and on the frame handwritten label with the name of the owner, the painter (Serrur), with an unreadable address.
