Japanese cylindrical lacquer (urushi) tea box, decorated boats with branches on a river. The technique of takamaki-e (relief in different gold colors) and Nashiji lacquer (gold background with a grainy surface reminds of the peel of Japanese pear) on its appearance. Kin-fundame inside (matte golden background in high density). The lid is stylized in inro-buta-zukuri (cover placed edge to edge on the body with grooved joint. The scene depicts two boats (one on the lid, the other one on the side) carrying firewoods on a fast-flowing river with continuous wave pattern. Mother-of-pearl and tin inlays.
