Furniture and Works of Art from the 17th, 18th and early 19th century
Yellow Siena marble, lapis lazuli, red marble
Mosaic top with geometric patterns of squares in one circle interwoven into another circle with rounded corners.
Yellow tesserae form the bottom of the tray, while the patterns are red and gray.
The composition is surrounded by a large Greek, the whole framed by a quarter round gilt bronze rod with foliage patterns.
Roman art par excellence, mosaic has always fascinated since antiquity. The opus tessalatum
consisting of small tesserae of marble, but also of colored glass has not changed in its technique over the centuries.
