A pair of Louis XVI canapés attributed to Georges Jacob

A pair of Louis XVI carved and cream lacquered canapés. The outscrolled back carved with ribbon the padded arms with guilloche-carved scrolled terminals leading to acanthus-decorated supports on six short fluted and tapering toupie feet.
Paris by 1780

Upholstered with red mohair velvet
Generous proportions, combining a slightly low seat and a good depth, make this pair of beautiful sofas, an excessively comfortable pair of seats.
