Herman Richir was a Belgian painter. Richir went to the Royal Academy of Fine artes in Brussels, where he was thaught by Jean Portaels. In 188§ he came second place in the Prix de Rome.
Richir mainly painted portraits of higher class people, such as king Albert, Queen Elisabeth and Cardinal Mercier. Richir also painted still life, genre, nudes and decorative paintings.
His work can be found in the royal museums of Art in Brussels and Antwerp and the museum of Elsene.
