Esther crowned by Ahasuerus

German tapestry, Hamburg manufactory
17th century
Woven in silk and wool

This small tapestry belongs to a furniture set and has been specially woven for a cushion.
It depicts Queen Esther crowned by Ahasuerus. The couple occupy the center of the composition. They are surrounded by a vegetal and floral decor typical of the 17th cenutry german tapestries.

A identical weaving is kept in Copenhaguen and reproduced in Göbel's book.
