"Woman with a fur collar" attributed to Deveria - circa 1825-1830

Represented in an oculus, with behind a city sketch, this elegance of the years of the end of the reign of Charles X carries a typical robe of the fashion of these years as we can see on the engravings "of Parisian fashion" . His vestment is made of a very long piece of fur.
This fashion accessory made by Ingres in 1805 in her celebrity painting by Mademoiselle Caroline Rivière, is repeated on this painting to evoke the pleasure of a woman.

Eugéne Deveria (1805-1865) studied under the direction of Girodet. It's "The hope" of the romantic movement. He left Paris in 1838 for Avignon, where he began painting the cathedral of Doms. Then he looked for fortunes in the Netherlands, in Scotland and was definitely established in Pau where he died in 1865
