A flambé Narcissus tripod bowl, 19th century

A Hexagonal tripod bowl for narcissus bulbs covered with a thick ad rich flamed glaze, China, 19th century. A star-shaped firing crack at the base which however does not cross through the body of the bowl.

This type of bowl covered with a splendid flamed glaze - sometimes called "transmutation glaze" - was made from the middle to the end of the Qing and is inspired by the famous imperial narcissus bowls in purple-glazed sandstone of the Jun type of the Yuan / Ming dynasty. in the 14 / 15th century.
