signed in red V.Irolli lower left.
Period around 1880/90.

He took classes at the Institute of Fine Arts under the direction of Gioacchino Toma and Maldarelli, alternating school studies and long walks in the countryside during which he tried to portray the true according to what his nature as an artist dictated.
At the age of nineteen, he was admitted to the exhibition of the promoter Salvator Rosa of Naples, and at once revealed his tendency to attend the school of Morelli and Michetti. The main feature of his works is the spontaneity of the brushstroke, vigorous in color and chiaroscuro.
