A rare French portable altar for travelling in red leather on a wooden base with fine gilt tooled decoration , in the circular center the inscription from Saint John's gospel: " Et verbum Caro factum Est "surrounded with a rich decor of gilt tooled flowers and birds probably by Pierre-Paul Dubuisson, the sides with fleurs de lys indicating that it was used by the French Royal court during its trips.
