Oil on canvas circa 1900/1910 signed lower right "Gampenrieder"
This elegant woman is surely an actress or an operetta singer. We base our observations on the decor painted by the artist: that of a scene.
Karl Gampenrieder (1860-1930) studied painting from 1877 under Gyula Benczúr and Wilhelm von Lindenschmit at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. A study trip took him to Paris. After his return to Munich, he portrayed the local society in numerous oil paintings.
