Note the very particular beauty of the Famille rose enamels in this pair of vases, which are quite unusual for items of this style and this period. The painting of the features of the faces of the characters is, on the other hand, characteristic of the reign of Tongzhi (1861-1875), where Chinese porcelain was noted by a return to excellence, including in Canton.
By its quality and also its typical treatment of the so-called "Chinese taste, in full surface, without reserve therefore, with large expressive and alive characters, this beautiful pair of vases treated in mirror, and having preserved, what is rare, their bases original, has been produced for either domestic or foreign market.
