A pair of lobed Kakiemon style saucer dishes, Arita kilns, decorated with couples of birds on bamboos and prunus (partly Three friends of Winter pattern), Japan, Edo period, 17th century, circa 1680. Fuku (luck) mark to the reverse in a double square.
This unusual model because it lacks the turquoise enamels traditionally associated with the Kakiemon style can be compared to a lobed plate sold at Christie's on September 19, 2000, lot 115
