Very beautiful mirror with pares-closes in lime wood gilded with the leaf.
Rectangular frame model with a slightly curved top rail topped by a rocaille pediment in acanthus "cock's crest".
The central shell nervously treated with a deep and vigorous sculpture.
The spandrels decorated with shells finely engraved in the primers.
Very good state of conservation, mercury glasses of the time, original gilding still very fresh.
Provencal work, Nîmes beginning of the reign of Louis XV around 1730-1740.
Height : 105 cm ; Width : 71 cm
Our opinion :
With its rocaille decoration very exuberant while being perfectly balanced the mirror that we present characterizes perfectly the Nîmes productions of the 18 th century.
Kept in the same property in Provence since its conception in the 18th century, it has a large openwork acanthus leaf which answered the sculpture of the crosspiece of a walnut chest of drawers from Nîmes.
