he was educated by Carl Haeberlin at the art school in Stuttgart from 1876 to 1880. In 1881 and 1882 he traveled to Italy and Tunisia. He returned to Munich in 1883, stayed in Berlin in 1885 and in Paris in 1887. he visited Vienna and Dusserdolf. From 1901 he resided in Munich.
He specialized in painting horses.
