Kogo - Two Shishi Playing, Japan Edo 18th century

KÔGÔ – A circular japanese lacquer box for incense. Japanese lacquer urushi, decorated on takamaki-e and hiramaki-e with animal figures of Shishi playing. The interior is Nashiji with veru fine herbs of Autumn. The sides are decorated with Mokume to imitate the wood grain. Diameter : 3,5 Inches. Japan Edo (1603-1868), 18th century.
