A Large Fishbowl (or planter in European use) in Famille verte enamels with a decoration of birds and flowers on one side and a furniture decoration on the other side, 19th century, reign of Guangxu (1875-1908). Sold with its original hardwood chinese stand.
Originally made to serve as fishbowls in ancient China, these large basins were used as planters in Europe where they were imported from the 19th century. The present example is typical, by its limpid and welcome enamels, in light relief moreover, of a manufacture under the reign of Guangxu Emperor (1875-1908)
