Set of ten Japanese lacquer medallions Takamaki-e, Japan circa 1780-1800

Set of ten oval medallions in Japanese lacquer called "Takamaki-e". Each copper plate has been delicately enhanced with a lacquer decoration composed of a shiny black background on which the portraits of famous figures appear in gold relief, depicted in profile or three-quarter length.
