A beautiful large white crystalline marble head of a Greek goddess. H. 27cm.
Classical Period, ca. 360 BC. Probably from a funerary bust of the type commonly found at Cyrene and Attica, representing the Greek goddess Persephone or Demeter.
Apparently, a work by the hands of a master of the 4th century rendering Praxitelean charismatic softness.
Similar heads are in the collections of great museums e.g.the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and others.
Exhibited at the Salon de Mars, Geneva, 2001
