Paintings and Sculptures from the 16th to the 19th century
Marble sculpture representing a female figure, possibly a saint, Italy, end of the 16th century.
This small sculpture belongs to the period of maturity of the sixteenth century: in fact, there is a first approach to the idea of ??movement in clothes, no longer rigid but as if moved by a light breeze of wind.
Even the expressive features of the face already bring us closer to Baroque sculpture, from the shift from perfect and idealized beauty to the desired representation of feeling capable of involving the viewer.
