This okimono representing an Arhat or Rakan (ascetic), disciple of Buddha, is seated on a rock, a pearl placed in his hand, with a dog at his feet. The carving of the whole, is of a very fine execution. The face expresses great serenity. The quality of the work of the hands and toes is remarkable. Under the base two holes (himotoshi) in the style of the netsuke. Signed: Gyoku Mitsu (?)
