Antwerp cabinet with painted interiors, Flanders, 17th c.

Cabinet with two doors and an upper compartment. The interior is composed of nine drawers and a central door revealing five small drawers decorated with embroideries representing birds, and a secret drawer.
The fifteen painted panels depict hunting scenes, episodes of life in the countryside, and a halt for pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela on the left door. These panels are attributed to the painter Isaak van Oosten and his workshop, which specialized in landscape painting and panels for the Antwerp cabinets (1613-1661).
The sober exterior is in blackened wood veneer. Two handles on the sides.
A replaced key lock, a blackened wooden base with four twisted columns joined by a not original crossbar.
Dimensions when open: 121x170 with base.
Cabinet only: 62x61 closed
