A large octagonal Ao-Kutani type dish decorated with a mynah perched on a tree branch, the border decorated with karakusa and flowers. Fuku mark on the reverse on the base. Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century.
Mynahs are considered in Asia, in China and Japan in particular, as lucky birds for their ability to imitate the human voice.
