Empire period mahogany and mahogany veneer cabinet chair.
The high cross member of the backrest is carved with oak leaves surrounding a medallion inside which is represented the Legion of Honor.
The winding armrest consoles are carved with rosettes. The front feet are shaped like lion claws.
The national order of the Legion of Honor is the highest French honorary decoration instituted on May 19, 1802 by Bonaparte, First Consul of the Republic.
This armchair is therefore a commissioned work from a recipient of this decoration.
