A statue of Saint Sebastian tied to a knotted tree, carved out of a large piece of boxwood with the original monochrome paint on the loincloth.
Attributed to the workshop of Christoph Daniel Schenck (°1633 - +1691).
Konstanz am Bodensee (Baden-Württemberg). Circa 1670-1680.
Acquired at the Haute Epoque Fair Heeze in 2018 ; previously in the Brenninkmeijer collection (NL) & the Herman Baer collection (London, UK) inventory no. 156
Condition: the left arm is missing as well as the original arrows, various small stable cracks and minor repairs.
