Head Of Bearded Man In Oak - North Of France, XVIth Century

This superb polychromed oak sculpture represents the expressive face of a bearded man. This striking mask is crossed by a touching feeling of life, breathed in by the old man's open mouth and the wrinkles that animate his thin skin. The latter revealed under its lacunar complexion the epidermis of the oak ringed by the years.

As poignant allegory of time, this work invites us to meditate.
