Japanese inspired cache-pot - French work - late 19th century

Galvanic copper and bronze pot cover with a red, black, gold and silver patina showing scenes of Japanese inspiration with a bird in front of a cherry tree on one side and an insect flying from a tree trunk on the other. This French work is close to Emile Reiber's drawings for the Christofle house and is part of a incresing interest in Japanese art in the last quarter of the 19th century, fostered by the Universal Exhibitions in which artists to discovered a new art form.
