The Virgin is in the center with the Christ’s body lying on her knees. She is gently supporting Jesus’s head. Her large veiled coat just covers her head, hiding her hair. Her face shows a heavy expression of pain.
To her right we can see Saint John praying in a silent grief.
To her left Mary Magdalene with a draped headdress, is reaching down and showing a tremulous sorrow.
At the back we can discern some vegetation and trees, with a green polychromy.
This figural group was originally coming from a significant altarpiece dedicated to the Passsion of the Christ.
