Inro - Ono no MIchikaze, Japan Edo early 19th

A small inlaid iron and 1 case Saya inro. , early 19th century. The Saya of iron, carved and inlaid with Ono no Tofu standing by a stream beneath a willow tree in a rain shower, watching a frog trying to jump up from a stream on the reverse, in gold, silver. Size : 5,5 x 4,4 cm. Japan Edo (1603 – 1808) early 19th century. A very similar Inro by Tsuchiya Yasuchika IV (ca.1800) could be found in the collection Wrangham n°1638. Original design by Tachibana Morikuni (1679-1748) and is illustrated in the woodblock-printed book, Ehon Kojidan, 1714, vol.6
