Son of Jan de Wael, brother of Lucas de Wael.
In 1619 both brothers went towards Genua in Italy.
He stayed there the largest part of his remaining life.
Anthony van Dyck stayed with the brothers de Wael during his stay in Genua.
Mainly known for kermesses, sea landscapes and animated town views.
We see here a pleasant gathering of peasants making merry, smoking, drinking and dancing.
