European Works of Art from the Middle Ages to the XVIIIth century
Group traditionally called "Saint Anne Trinitarian" or "Saint Ana Triple", a composition which underlines the bonds between Ana and the two following generations.
Carved in the round in polychrome and gilded wood.
Saint Anne is represented standing, dressed in a dress with sober folds, held at the waist by a small belt; his face is surrounded by a wimple; his head is covered with a veil falling over a long cloak. She holds the Virgin and Child on her right arm; Marie, her daughter, is represented crowned, the youthful face, decorated with a long hair; she is dressed in a loose coat. On her knees sits the infant Jesus, dressed in a tunic.
Mechelen, 1500.
H. 31.5 cm.
Lacks in particular at the base, and the left arms of Saint Anne; uses the original polychromy.
