Offered by Jan Muller
This beautifull still life on oak panel is by the hand of the German painter Jacob Marrel. We see tulips and roses in a glass vase surrounded by insects, a lizard, a fly, a big black beetle in the middle.
He was born in Germany, in Frankfurt he studied under Georg Flegel.
In 1630 however he moved his first time to Utrecht where he studied under the famous J.D. De Heem. He went back to Frankfurt where Abraham Mignon was one of his students. In 1664 he went back to Utrecht with his second wife and with Abraham Mignon. He was both painter as art dealer.
His paintings are very searched after and can go high on the market.
Some of them fetched multiple 100 thousands allready.
Housed in a new black 17th century frame.
Beautifull panel, good condition.
