Works of art, sculptures and furniture Haute Epoque
This beautiful majolica dish dating back to the sixteenth century was made in Castelfiorentino.
The majolica or maiolica, is synonymous with earthenware. This production technique originated in "Moorish" Spain, appeared at the end of the fourteenth century in Italy and was a great success.
In a very good state of conservation, this dish with polychrome decorations is remarkable and unique. At the umbilicus, a lion surrounded by geometric shapes divided into several registers on the marli, alternating shades of green, yellow and ochre, stands out.
