18th-century and Empire French furniture, works of art and pictures
Each of campana form with a pierced rim and gadrooned border, the body with a frieze of bacchantes linked by floral garlands, raised on a circular socle above a rectangular verde antico marble pedestal fitted with ormolu masks of Mercury, surrounded by an ormolu leaf tip border and a marble base on flattened bun feet.
An identical pair of perfume burners is in the palace of Pavlovsk, reproduced, Alexander Kuchumov, Pavlovsk, The Palace and the Park, 1976, pl. 220.
