Pair of chiseled and gilded bronze andirons in neoclassical form decorated with two winged cupids, one with his hands resting on an ornate helmet symbolizing Mars the god of war, the other leaning on an anvil and holding a hammer represents Vulcan the god of the forge, framed by fire pots resting on fluted pilasters framing medallions of male and female profiles.
Work attributable to the bronzier Jean Louis Prieur 1732-1795.

A note: missing 3 small bronze rosettes, one on each side and one on the front.
