A Ryukyu mother-of-pearl inlay and lacquer box (Tebako). Unusual small box with lid decorated with automn foliage (Hagi) and an insect cage (Mushikago) in gold lacquer in high relief on a mother-of-pearl inlaid. Nashiji lacquer inside. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 18th century.
