A superb and rare Kikuyu dance wood shield, called ndome, in the shape of an oval pierced in the middle, painted and engraved with geometric designs.
Kenya, 19th century
Those shields were used during the initiations ceremonies of boys pasing in the adult age and was worn on the upper part of the arm.
