Jan Juriaensz van Baden (1604-1677) - Church interior

Jan Juriaensz van Baden was born in Steinbach in 1604 and died in Amsterdam in 1677. Pupil of Dirk van Delen. He was active in Arnemuiden from 1633 to 1635, then in Amsterdam from 1635 until his death. Church interiors is a subject that certain Dutch artists have made their specialty. Pieter Neefs says the old man specializes from the beginning of the 17th century in the representation of the cathedral of Antwerp, the thoroughness of which has found an echo among collectors. A new market will open up allowing certain artists to enter it, such as van Baden who also painted palace interiors and theater stages.
