Equestrian bronze with dark patina representing a roman horseman on the attack, standing on a "vert de mer" marble base.
Beautiful cast of chiseled bronze, probably inspired by the horsemen depicted on the painting "La Victoire de Judas Macchabée" (1809) by François Joseph Heim, preserved in the Magnin museum, or "Les Sabines" (1799) by Jacques Louis David, in the Louvre.
Fine state of condition except a slight scratching to the patina (cf. picture 8).
French work, early 19th century.
Sizes with base (inches): L. 13, l. 6, H. 16,5
