Born in St. Petersburg in 1895, the sculptor Androusov is famous for his collaborations with the architect, designer and sculptor André Leon Arbus. Androusov moved to Paris in the early 1920s, where he first encountered Arbus whilst they were both exhibiting their works at the Gallery L’Epoque. For the next twenty years Androusov designed decorative details for furniture designed by Arbus, in this way, helping to revolutionise the style of 1940s furniture design.
