Oval snuff box featuring green, yellow, and pink gold. The hinged lid is decorated with a central medallion featuring two doves in a cloud with a rising sun behind them. The doves, a symbol of love and of Venus in particular, are set on a matte gold background. The medallion is framed with both a spiraling and a “barley grain” motif. The border of the lid is highlighted with two friezes: a frieze of acanthus leaves in green gold set on a matte gold background, and a frieze of stylized laurel leaves on a matte gold background. The body is made of eight panels: four horizontal panels with angled corners and an intricate geometric design, and four vertical panels decorated with columns and garlands. A spiraling frieze underscores the bottom of the box.
