J.B Govaerts (1701-1745)
Born in Antwerp and member of the Guild of St Luke, he remained in this city until 1740, then left for Mainz and became the appointed painter of the archbishop- prince elector Philippe Karl von Eltz-Kempenich (1665-1743) great protector Arts.
Painter of still lifes and flowers, J.B. Govaerts will execute a number of genre paintings showing in particular kitchen scenes when he is in Mainz.
The date of this painting is interesting since it corresponds to the end of his collaboration with the Prince Elector.
