Kogo - Venus clam shape with shells and aquatic plants, early XIXe

Venus clam shape with shells and aquatic plants. Applied decoration of rounds shells kai to kaiso lie individually or in pairs across delicate sprays of aquatic plants. Shells executed in gold, silver and mother-of-pearl. Technique of nashiji, hiramaki-e, brown and black takamaki-e. Nashiji lacquer inside. Back with hirameji ground. Size : 5 x 7 cm. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 18th, early 19th century. The motif chosen, known as Kai to Kaiso (shells and eelgrass) first appears in 16th century became very polpular in the early Edo period.
