Léon Legat (born in 1829-Paris)
A pupil of Louis Martinet, he chose his themes from everyday peasant life, mills, inns, fairs and markets: familiar, animated scenes bathed in a pretty light in the tradition of Flemish painting. He exhibited at the salon from 1848, then every year regularly, from 1861 to 1891.
