An important plaque - probably an element of a large processional cross - depicting Christ in Majesty : an iconographic pose called in Latin the "Maiestas Domini" to symbolize his role in presiding over the human souls of all time. Christ is depicted enthroned, in a frontal position, blessing with his right hand and holding an orb in his left. Underneath his raised left arm we discover a stylized sun with human face and to the right of his head a crescent moon and a star.
Champlevé enamel on copper with blue, red and black enamel. The raised fields are engraved and have retained their original gilding. The back of the plaque is engraved with a simplified cross.
