Claude Deruet (circa 1588-1660) is a 17th century Lorraine Baroque painter from Nancy. We know that he painted mythological scenes and official portraits of great figures of the time. But also his workshop produced very many small portraits mainly female with generally rich costumes and adorned with beautiful jewels, a strong demand on the part of amateurs is surely at the origin of this very fashionable production at the beginning of the 17th century. century. These works are almost exclusively painted on wood and in small formats. The panel we are showing you today is of particularly high quality and we can give it to the artist and his studio.
Very good state of conservation.
